Food Intolerance Testing and Nutritional Therapy

Food sensitivity (intolerance) should not be confused with food allergy. Allergy is a defense reaction of the body against a substance that enters the body but is actually harmless.

It has long been known that various foods consumed can have a major impact on the physical and mental health of susceptible individuals. Many recent studies have found a close relationship between the symptoms of food intolerance and food-specific antibodies. Food sensitization is associated with many symptoms and chronic conditions. Unlike food allergies, intolerance is not life-threatening.

Less than 2% of the population suffers from food allergy, but up to 45% of the population is known to suffer from some forms of food intolerance. Since symptoms appear some time after ingestion of the food, it can be difficult to identify the food or foods causing the symptoms. Some food-related symptoms may be due to enzyme deficiencies or chemical sensitization, while others may be due to an immune response.

Although the causes of food intolerance are not fully understood, it may be due to poor digestion, parasites, intestinal infections, unbalanced diet, alcohol consumption or the effects of medications used for treatment.

If the immune system is overworked or malfunctioning, complex structures can build up in certain places, such as the joints or the digestive tract, causing the symptoms of food intolerance.

For example
Difficulty controlling weight
Inability to lose weight and rapid weight gain
Respiratory system Rhinitis, sinusitis and asthma
Skeletal system Arthritis, joint pain, muscle pain and weakness
Gastrointestinal system: Nausea, vomiting, bloating, cramping, excessive gas, water retention, constipation, diarrhea
Central nervous system: Headache, migraine, difficulty concentrating, depression, fatigue, hyperactivity
Skin: Urticaria, eczema, skin itching, other rashes
Symptoms can appear even days after eating the "reactive" foods that cause discomfort or a reaction, and can persist for weeks. It can therefore be very difficult to find out which food is the cause of the symptoms. Food intolerance is used to identify the foods that cause symptoms. The test also helps to identify the foods that are the strongest candidates for causing a reaction.

Nutritional support for food intolerance
Health and nutrition are closely related concepts. Personalized food intolerance test results are defined as "high", "borderline", "normal". A personalized nutrition chart is created according to this table.

Plan and organize your meals as far in advance as possible.

Find special recipes for foods that do not cause a reaction.

When shopping for food, take care to buy the foods you need to eat carefully. Know what products contain the foods you react to. Remember that many ready-made meals and sauces may contain foods that you are sensitive to.

Know the range of foods you can eat and remember that even if you are intolerant to a few foods, there are foods to which you do not react.

It is very important to eat a healthy and nutritious diet. By eating a variety of foods, you will get many essential nutrients into your body and reduce the risk of developing intolerances in the future.
